How to register for public healthcare in La Línea

Qualify for healthcare, unemployment insurance and old age pensions...

Registering for a Tarjeta Sanitaria in La Línea is relatively pain-free and will qualify you for free health care as well as a COVID-19 vaccine – when they get round to your risk-group, that is!

If you are out of work at the moment, you can still get a temporary Tarjeta Sanitaria SIP to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Just take your passport and a copy of your empadronamiento (which must be at least 3 months old) to your nearest Public Health Center.

Step 1: Gather the following documents:

  • Valid passport (and bring a photocopy just in case)
  • Copy of your empadronamiento (which must be at least 3 months old)
  • INSS certificate if you work/recieve your pension in Spain, or if you work in Gibraltar:
    1. Use this online form or email s1@gibraltar.gov.gi. to get your S1 certificate
    2. Get it stamped by Spain – Send an email to prestaciones.inss-cadiz.dp@seg-social.es with:
      • Subject: “Sellar s1”
      • Attachments: S1 form, passport, residencia, padron.

Step 2: Bring those documents to your nearest public health center
