As an English person, the very concept of using a gestor or asesor was completely new and alien to me. Google translated these terms for me as “manager” and “advisor” respectively – services that I would generally pair with being rich and having assets.
However, employing someone to take care of your paperwork is a pretty normal part of life here in Spain. If it helps, you can think of a gestor or gestora as someone who will navigate all aspects of Spanish bureaucracy on your behalf, whereas an Asesor is more like an accountant. Your gestor may also be able complete your tax return. Not confusing at all, right?
He or she can also handle things such as: getting your NIE, getting your residency, obtaining a digital certificate, obtaining your social security number and tarjeta sanitaria, and vehicle registrations and imports.
